Welcome to Capistrano Beach

Capistrano Beach (you’ll only hear Capo Beach –  locally) resides in the Southern end of Dana Point.  Historically, known as Serra, but in 1887 became a Boom Town, and renamed San-Juan-by-the-Sea.  The area was subdivided and lots listed for sale, but the development wasn’t successful.  Within 2 years the Boom Town went Bust, and the Community became known as Serra again … a sleepy farming Community.

The first homes were built on the Bluff, by the Doheny family, and on May 9, 1925 advertisements for the Birth of a City began.  Lots started at $400.00, and included surfaced streets, water and electricity.  In 1926 homes started being built on Beach Road, and in January 1928, the tract map for Beach Road was recorded, and Capo Beach began turning into a real Community.

In 1989, Capo Beach became part of Dana Point – the fifth Neighborhood located within Dana Point (Monarch Beach, Lantern Village, Dana Hills and Del Obispo are the other four).  The Community is unique because it was independent previous to being associated with Dana Point, and has its own history and small town personality.  Every type of home and price range exist here.  From Condos and Beach Cottages to Oceanfront Homes … so far this year the lowest priced home sold for $285,000.00 and the highest price was $5,000,000.00 – there’s a home for everyone at Capistrano Beach.
